- Silk and Dogs - Aug 16th at The Old Shop, Luton (invite/donation - £5 from VSTM

Silk and Dogs will premiere 'Laogai' on the 16th of August at the Dislocation Festival (details below). The recorded work comprises of four pieces, each exploring a different aspect of the use of forced labour in China. The performance will focus on one of these pieces, looking specifically at the internal mechanics and ritualism of the Laogai Dui . The music will be accompanied by a documentary made by Harry Wu and journeyman. Some people may find the footage disturbing. Dislocation Festival

The Dislocation Festival is an all day event combining live music performances, DJ sets, visuals and multimedia performances and informal discussions. It is run by Without Dead Time Records (VSTM) and takes place at The Old Shop and Manhattans in Luton. The event is split between day time events and night time events. The day time events comprise of live music performances by the likes of Kid In a Drawer, Silk and Dogs, Badgerwood Commission, Rory, Horselover Fat and uncle-mum, combined with multimedia performances from Canidae and DJ Engram. The night time events comprise of DJ sets from DJ Creeping Jaw, DJ Engram, Logic and Oblio and a live set from DJ Tendraw and the Gypsies Dog. Th event is 'invite only'. Invites, which are handmade and personalised, can be purchased from VSTM for £5 for the whole day, or £3 for the night's events.
